Proof It’s Possible: Morgan Taylor’s Journey From the Floor to the C-Suite
Get inspired by this pediatric nurse's journey and find out how she made the pivot beyond bedside nursing.
Hi friends,
Do you ever scroll through this newsletter or listen to other nurses sharing their stories on the podcast and think “Could I really do something like that?”
Sometimes the biggest hurdle in your pivot isn’t finding the perfect role, updating your resume, or even interviewing.
It’s believing you can actually do it.
Let that sink in for a second.
So this week, I’m delivering more proof.
Proof that your bedside experience is valuable. Proof that you don’t have to start over.
Proof that real nurses (yes, just like you!) are building careers they love, beyond the bedside.
I’d like to introduce you to Morgan Taylor, a pediatric nurse turned Chief Nursing Officer at ArcherReview.
Her story is honest, energizing, and full of reminders that your nursing skills can take you far beyond the hospital walls.
Let’s get into it.👇
Tell us about your first role as a nurse. What did you love most about it?
My first role as a nurse was in the pediatric float pool at Duke University Hospital, where I cared for children across intensive care, emergency, and general pediatric units. I thrived in the dynamic nature of the role—each shift brought new challenges, new families, and countless opportunities to advocate for vulnerable patients. What I loved most was being a calming, confident presence for both the kids and their caregivers during moments of deep uncertainty.

What challenges or frustrations were starting to build up in your bedside career?
Over time, I began to notice a troubling pattern: new nurses—myself included—were entering the profession feeling unprepared and unsupported, especially as the pandemic intensified existing gaps in training and mentorship. The lack of continuity, clinical guidance, and resources planted the early seeds of frustration. I started to question whether the traditional path alone would allow me to make the long-term impact I hoped for. That realization led me to step into the world of nursing education and innovation, where I now channel my energy into supporting and shaping the next generation of nurses.
What steps did you take when you first started exploring nontraditional or non-clinical paths?
When I first began exploring nontraditional paths, I started by observing what else was happening in the nursing education space—what innovations were emerging, what needs were going unmet, and who was already out there doing things differently.
How did you prepare for the transition (resume updates, interviews, networking, learning new skills, etc.)?
